In yet another setback for Rafael Nadal, the Spaniard might not be able to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics. His coach Carlos Moya stated that he cannot comment on the veteran’s participation currently, and they will have to wait for another 48 hours before taking a call.

Rafael Nadal has struggled with injuries for majority of the last couple of years, but he was at least hopeful of competing at the Olympics this time around. Carlos Moya revealed that Rafael Nadal picked up an injury during his doubles training session with Carlos Alcaraz.

Along with singles, Rafael Nadal will also scheduled to play the doubles event with world number three Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard won the gold medal in Doubles at the 2016 Rio Olympics, in addition to his singles gold medal at Beijing 2008.

Rafael Nadal could face Novak Djokovic in the second round of the 2024 Paris Olympics. After Jannik Sinner’s withdrawal, the Serbian has entered the draw as the top seed, followed by Carlos Alcaraz as the second seed.

Rafael Nadal will face Marton Fucsovics in the first round, as Novak Djokovic faces Matthew Ebden. A win for both players in the first round means that they will clash against each other in the second round. However, this is also given the fact that Rafael Nadal is able to compete at the Olympics.

Rafael Nadal had a long week in Bastad before coming to Paris. He ended as the runner-up at the Swedish Open, losing to Nuno Borges in the finals in straight sets. The Spaniard played a four hour long quarterfinals, which was followed by another three set match in the semifinals.
