South Korea creates history in Archery; wins 10th consecutive gold medal in Women’s Team Event

South Korea have scripted history at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as they have claimed their tenth successive gold medal in the Women’s Team event. Since 1988, the Asian Giants are unbeaten in this event, as they clinched yet another gold medal.
However, the journey to the gold medal was as difficult as it could get. The South Korean archers were pushed to the limit by Netherlands in the semifinals, and by China in the finals. They won both the matches in the shoot-off after scores were level after four sets.
The South Korean trio of Lim Si-Hyeon, Nam Su-Hyeon and Jeon Hun-young won the final shoot-off against China. They won the first two sets, however, China came back to level the scores to push the match into the decisive shootoff.

South Korea have dominated the sport of archery at the Summer Olympics for decades now. Next up, the men will be action tomorrow, as they finished as the top seeds in the qualifying round. As usual, they have received a bye into the quarterfinals.
The South Korean trio will be spotted in action once again in a couple of days in the Singles event. It was a brave decision by the South Korean Archery Federation to send three inexperienced archers in the women’s team event. All three archers made their Olympics debut in Paris, and by the looks of things, it surely would not be their last.
