“It was absolutely suicidal to get rid of Carlos” : Eddie Jordan criticizes Ferrari for getting rid of the Spaniard

“It was absolutely suicidal to get rid of Carlos” : Eddie Jordan criticizes Ferrari for getting rid of the Spaniard Lewis Hamilton has officially ended his reign at Mercedes, as he finally becomes a Ferrari driver in 2025. The seven-time world champion will replace Carlos Sainz at Ferrari, as he will now drive alongside Charles Leclerc for the iconic team. However, Eddie Jordan believes that it was a suicidal decision by Ferrari to ditch Carlos Sainz in order to make way for Lewis Hamilton. Eddie Jordan stated that Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc forged a good partnership with each other over the course of the last four seasons. Additionally, the Spaniard was properly integrated into the Ferrari system and the atmosphere in the team was very friendly and cordial. Eddie Jordan believes that Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur will now have to think about integrating Lewis Hamilton in the team, and make sure there are no ego clashes between the two drivers. “We’re on the same page here, because my FFS is, I say to John Elkann, who’s the chairman of that group, what the f**k was he thinking about in getting rid of Carlos, when he had a very happy, friendly, structured team that knew how to work together. The drivers got on well together,” said Jordan. “Fred Vasseur had a real opportunity to bring this team great, great success. Now he has to start thinking about gelling and mending away, that he can get a new member of the team, egos, everything involved.“ Eddie Jordan believes Ferrari should have stayed with Carlos Sainz Despite his concerns over Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, the 76-year-old believes that the Briton is among the nicest people to work on the grid. Hence, Eddie Jordan is confident that Ferrari would not have a problem here. “Lewis is a particularly nice person. I’m not sure there’s many nicer people on the grid than Lewis Hamilton, so I don’t think he’ll have a problem there. However, my FFS goes to John Elkann of Ferrari for even authorizing, signing off on that deal. It was absolutely suicidal to get rid of Carlos,” Eddie Jordan said, as quoted by Crash.net. Lewis Hamilton will look to capture an elusive eighth world championship title next season in Ferrari. The last couple of years have been tough for the veteran driver, who claimed six world championship titles during his reign at Mercedes. The Silver Arrows have fallen behind the likes of Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull when it comes to car performance, which has also affected Lewis Hamilton’s bid for a record eighth title. “The only thing that matters is a slam title” : Steve Johnson says nothing for more for Alexander Zverev than winning a Grand Slam in 2025

“The only thing that matters is a slam title” : Steve Johnson says nothing for more for Alexander Zverev than winning a Grand Slam in 2025 Alexander Zverev came close to winning his maiden Grand Slam title in Paris earlier this year at the French Open. The German faltered once again, as he was defeated by Carlos Alcaraz in five sets in the final. Former American tennis player Steve Johnson believes that the only thing that matters for Alexander Zverev in the upcoming season is a Grand Slam title. Alexander Zverev has won several titles over the past couple of seasons, which also includes an Olympic gold medal in Tokyo in 2021. However, he has failed to win a Grand Slam title, after coming agonizingly close at the 2020 US Open, where he was defeated in five sets by Dominic Thiem. Steve Johnson also believes that the German could be among the best players to have not won a single Grand Slam title. Hence, he believes that Zverev’s focus for the 2025 season should be on Grand Slam events. “The only thing that matters is a slam title. He’s accomplished everything else he probably wanted to accomplish. The slam title, that’s it. That’s all he has left to accomplish. That’s goal number one, two, and three,” Steve Johnson on the Nothing Major Podcast. “He’s good enough, he just hasn’t gotten over the hump” : Alexander Zverev Steve Johnson believes that 2025 could be another good year for Alexander Zverev, however, only a Grand Slam title could make it a defining year. The German suffered a major injury at the 2022 French Open, which left him out on the sidelines for the remainder of the season. Steve Johnson stated that Alexander Zverev could challenge for a Grand Slam title if he remains injury-free. This could also mean playing fewer tournaments in 2025 which would give his body enough time to recover for major events. “There is nothing more important than him eclipsing a slam, so I don’t know if that means playing a little less tournaments. Without him holding a slam trophy in 2025, barring injury, that would be another good year, but it’s not an outstanding year. He needs to win a slam. He’s probably one of the best players of all time to have never won a slam at this point. He’s good enough, he just hasn’t gotten over the hump.” Alexander Zverev’s best shot at winning a Grand Slam title comes at the French Open, an event where he has performed well over the last couple of years. The German reached the semifinal of the event in 2022 and 2023, and finished as the runner-up in 2023. He has been a real force to reckon with on clay courts, and 2025 could finally prove to be the year where he wins his first major title. “When the driving ends, there’s going to be plenty of adventures we’re going to embark on” : Toto Wolff leaves door open for future reunion with Lewis Hamilton

“When the driving ends, there’s going to be plenty of adventures we’re going to embark on” : Toto Wolff leaves door open for future reunion with Lewis Hamilton Toto Wolff has left the door open for a future collaboration with Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time F1 champion ended his 10 year stint with the Silver Arrows this month, as he now moves to Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton will now be seen driving alongside Charles Leclerc for at least the next two seasons, as he continues his quest to win a record eighth title. Toto Wolff stated that Lewis Hamilton will always remain a part of the Mercedes family. The Austrian is also open to working with the veteran driver after his stint with Ferrari. He believes that the duo will embark on several adventures together in the future, as he hints at working together post Hamilton’s retirement from racing. “There is no such thing in an end to the relationship that Mercedes has with Lewis, neither what we as a team have nor I and Susie [Wolff, wife] personally. On the contrary. I think Lewis has decided to do something else for the last part of his career, which I understand – or I can understand – but he’s always going to be part of that family and always welcome in the family,” said Wolff. “And one day, maybe when the driving ends, there’s going to be plenty of adventures we’re going to embark on,” he added. Toto Wolff applauds Niki Lauda’s effort in bringing Lewis Hamilton to Mercedes Toto Wolff acknowledged the efforts of Niki Lauda in bringing Lewis Hamilton to Mercedes. The former driver took a huge effort in persuading the Briton to join the Silver Arrows after spending several years with McLaren. “Without Niki, there wouldn’t be any Lewis with Mercedes. I think Niki was so persistent in trying to convince him to join Mercedes and, particularly, he just scored the goal with him on that Sunday night in Singapore, where Lewis DNF’d with the McLaren and convinced him to join the team,” Wolff added. Toto Wolff stated that Niki Lauda was never given enough credit for his effort in persuading Lewis Hamilton. He also revealed that the former three-time champion acted as a good mediator between the team and Lewis Hamilton. The Austrian also mentioned that Lewis Hamilton was more like a team member at Mercedes rather than just a contracted driver. The Ferrari bound driver won six titles during his 11-year reign at the Silver Arrows, winning four back to back titles from 2017 to 2020. “I’m not sure Niki was ever given enough credit for that. Took no prisoners – what’s the salary you want? – and convinced the board of Mercedes to do this. Niki was always a very good liaison between the team and Lewis in the first few years, because he was talking as a three-time World Champion and had the respect of Lewis. “Eventually it became the three of us and the whole team became one,” he added. “We sometimes call drivers contractors: they come, you pay them well, if they don’t have the right car anymore and they’re getting paid well somewhere else, they leave. Lewis changed from a contractor to team member and that was because everybody else just embraced the notion of the team that we had then.” Also Read: “Lewis can’t do that. “Yes, why not? Arsenal is my home” : Santi Cazorla on a potential return to North London

“Yes, why not? Arsenal is my home” : Santi Cazorla on a potential return to North London It is no secret that Mikel Arteta has done a fantastic job ever since taking the mantle of head coach with the Gunners. Arsenal was the team with the most number of wins throughout this year as well. The problem that lies is, apart from an FA Cup and two Community Shields, the Spaniard does not really have anything else to show how far their progress has come. Prior seasons it was Manchester City, and currently it is Liverpool who is absolutely dominating thanks to new manager Arne Slot’s tactics along with Mohamed Salah’s Ballon d’or worthy form. The Gunners are currently six points behind the Reds (who have a game in hand) as the first half of the season is already done. While Mikel Arteta would regularly not care for some extra assistance in coaching, he would certainly make an exception for former Arsenal midfield maestro Santi Cazorla. The Spanish duo played together at the North London club while also winning an FA Cup, as Cazorla slowly became a fan-favourite. The 40-year-old is currently playing in Spain’s Second Division club Oviedo, but would not mind a return to his Gunners family as part of the coaching staff, as he expressed his sentiments towards Arteta and the club in a recent interview. “Mikel is doing an incredible job. I understand that competing with Manchester City last year and Liverpool this year is very difficult, but they must keep fighting. I believe in them. I hope Liverpool loses some points, and Arsenal can win the title.” “Yes, why not? Arsenal is my home. I love this club and the fans, so we’ll see what happens in the future. I don’t yet know what role I could take. I need to think about it, but I definitely want to stay in football because it’s what I love.”Cazorla said when asked about a potential return to the North London club. “He’s one of the best players that I have played with” : Mikel Arteta’s thoughts on Santi Cazorla The Spaniard coach was also not shy on heaping praise towards his former teammate, who he believes had a very special six years with the club from 2012 to 2018, winning two FA Cups and Community Shields. Arteta also reflected on the fact that apart from his football, he was also a beloved member in the dressing room, even without his knowledge of the English language. “He’s one of the best players that I have played with. But then it’s also about the person, and he’s a very special character. He was loved by everybody in the dressing room, [and everybody] at the club. Even without speaking English, he was loved by all the crowd, which is a compliment of him.”the 42-year-old expressed to Amazon Prime Video. Santi Cazorla was also present at the Emirates stadium on Friday when the Gunners narrowly marched past Ipswich Town in a 1-0 victory. It will not be the first time a former club player will return to the team as a coaching member, and certainly will not be the last time. Most recently, former Barcelona and Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago also joined Hansi Flick’s coaching staff in the summer with rumours of him making his return in the second half of the season as well. Regardless, Santi Cazorla’s homecoming to Arsenal would be a special one for the fans especially, if it ever happens, sooner or later.

“I’ll give him the pleasure of playing doubles with me” : Nick Kyrgios on practicing doubles with Novak Djokovic after sustaining long-term injury

“I’ll give him the pleasure of playing doubles with me” : Nick Kyrgios on practicing doubles with Novak Djokovic after sustaining long-term injury Nick Kyrgios long-awaited return is finally upon us, as the Aussie is expected to take part in the Brisbane International which is already underway. Kyrgios’s first match after a series of injuries will be anything but easy as he is up against the hottest French star this year, Mpetshi Perricard in the Round of 32. But fans are even more so excited about his return in the doubles segment, as Nick Kyrgios will be teaming up against none other than rival turned friend, Novak Djokovic. The duo will be seen battling it out in the Round of 32 on Monday against Alexander Erler and Andreas Mies. “I honestly never thought I’d be back playing at this level” : Nick Kyrgios Nick Kyrgios has time and again revealed that he did not expect to ever be back in action at a professional level due to the level of injuries he has sustained.  “I honestly never thought I’d be back playing at this level, even entering an event like this, preparing, doing all the right things.” “I’m obviously a little bit… I don’t know if I’d call it nervous. When I was hitting on the stadium, playing [Reilly Opelka] who’s also had a couple of injuries, I guess we just reflected. It was surreal to be back out there. I took it all in. I’m really excited to just go out there and play, just play tennis.” the Aussie revealed ahead of the Brisbane International tournament. But it is pleasant to see that his funny side has still not vanished even after the trauma sustained, as the 29-year-old reflected on Novak Djokovic ‘fanboying’ over the shot of playing tennis with him. “I saw Novak in the gym, [I’m] playing doubles with him, there is a lot to be excited about, that I’m able to get out there and compete again. He kept messaging me over and over again. I was just like, I’ll give him a little handout and give him the pleasure of playing doubles with me.” “It’s going to be a lot of fun. Look, a kid from Canberra gets to play with the greatest of all time in his home town in front of the fans is pretty special. It’s something that I’m able to tell people when it’s all said and done that I played doubles with him. “It’s pretty special.” Kyrgios on playing with the Serbian. Considering his last match was in June of 2023 and last Grand Slam at the 2022 US Open, we will likely not see the best of the Aussie for a while. Although, coming back after 18 months to play in front of your home crowd, that too along with a member of the ‘Big 3’ is a pretty good way of restarting your career. “Lewis can’t do that. He’s never been able to do that” : Michael Schumacher’s brother Ralf places heavy criticism over Lewis Hamilton

“Lewis can’t do that. He’s never been able to do that” : Michael Schumacher’s brother Ralf places heavy criticism over Lewis Hamilton After an almost fairytale ending with the Mercedes brand, Lewis Hamilton sets his sight on dawning the red uniform next year and potentially having one last chance of breaking the record for the number of world championships. He is currently tied with former Ferrari and F1 icon Michael Schumacher. Due to this tie, the debate of who the actual ‘GOAT’ is may be never ending, so the Briton being crowned world champion once again will go a long way. But Ralf Schumacher, Michael’s brother, believes there never has been any debate as it is understandable who he thinks is the greatest. But Ralf has also so far gone and said that Lewis Hamilton has never been able to develop a car as well as his brother and made the technicians’ lives easier along the way.  He also suggested that apart from the engineers, the Silver Arrows CEO Toto Wolff has also prompted time and again about a driver and the engineers working hand-in-hand to further develop any car, something which the German team has lacked. “The biggest difference is that Michael, among many other qualities, was able to develop a car perfectly for his driving style together with the engineers. Lewis can’t do that. He’s never been able to do that, if you listen carefully to what the Mecedes technicians say. Toto Wolff [Mercedes boss] has emphasised more than once that a driver should step on the gas and the engineers should develop.” Ralf said to Sport1.de. “But he also said that because his drivers were apparently incapable of giving the right input. Michael was completely different. He always gave his confidants like Ross Brawn or Jean Todt the direction.” the 49-year-old added. Lewis Hamilton has largely been *the* driver for Mercedes ever since Nico Rosberg’s departure in 2016, but that may not be the case now because of another top star’s presence in Ferrari in the form of Charles Leclerc. As Carlos Sainz said, the Monaco-based driver has been the cornerstone of the Italian team’s big project ever since his initial debut, and fans have already claimed him as a future world champion. Even for someone like Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, it will be difficult to break in and automatically become the top guy from the start. Ralf Schumacher understands this as he reiterated his feelings. “That makes things even more difficult for Lewis: because Charles Leclerc is the top dog. Everyone in the team knows him. For Lewis, everything is new at Ferrari. What’s more, Michael came to Ferrari as the current world champion and was much younger. That’s not the case with Lewis.” Schumacher continued. Ralf Schumacher was not finished yet, as he also said that he does not count the Briton as great of a world champion as others on the list, including the reigning champion Max Verstappen. He believes Hamilton requires the perfect environment and team to reach the top, similar to Sebastian Vettel, while drivers like the Dutchman can function exceptionally even when the odds are not in their favour. “He simply makes the difference. Max Verstappen is really capable of giving that little bit extra that those exceptional world champions before him already have. There are not many of them, and I honestly don’t count Lewis Hamilton among that list. Hamilton is certainly exceptional, but also needs a bit of the perfect environment and car, just like Sebastian Vettel. But Max Verstappen, what he has achieved this year in these circumstances – problems with Christian Horner, the departure of Adrian Newey.” Even before his debut for Ferrari, it seems like the Briton has a lot of people to silence already, and knowing him, it will just work in as extra motivation ahead of his much-awaited and important first year with the Italian team. “He’s going to be a nightmare for many players for many years to come” : John Isner believes Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard is the real deal

“He’s going to be a nightmare for many players for many years to come” : John Isner believes Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard is the real deal Not Ugo Humbert, or Arthur Fils, but young tennis star Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard has been the most talked about French tennis player this year, who has broken through the ranks so rapidly to the surprise of everyone. Standing at almost 6’7, the 21-year-old has had an outstanding season where he won his first ATP title at the Lyon Open in May and secured his second at the Swiss Basel Indoors Championship beating Ben Shelton all while becoming the lowest ranked champion in the history of the tournament to do so. This leapfrogged his ATP ranking from 205 to now the world no. 31. Fans and players are vividly impressed by the Frenchman, with Andy Roddick even going so far to say that he will change tennis, after his clash with Shelton. “Perricard is the first guy, who can statistically responsibly just hit two first serves. “This guy was going 145mph first serve, 130mph second serve, he was hitting second serves in the second set breaker against Shelton trying to win a tournament at 142mph. “It’s a joke, it’s different.” Andy Roddick said on his podcast. But tennis icon John Isner recently revealed that his initial meeting with the Frenchman revealed room for growth. “I just remember thinking his backhand was really bad” : John Isner on Mpetshi Perricard’s early development Speaking on the Nothing Major podcast, the American remembered his time with the young star who was assigned to warm him up before his clash at the French Open. Isner revealed that the Frenchman’s backhand was not good at all but the forehand and serve were his strong points. “He warmed me up at the French Open, like years ago, I just remember thinking his backhand was really bad but he could crack the ball on the forehand and his serve was obviously huge.” “It’s not actually that surprising for me that he did what he did last year.” John Isner’s thoughts on the Frenchman. The 21-year-old’s breakthrough year has also put him up for nomination of the ‘Most improved player of the season’ alongside Jack Draper, Thomas Machac, and Alejandro Tabilo. But Isner believes the Frenchman should be the clear nominee to take home this award. “I’m going with GMP [Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard], it was a no-brainer for me, he came from the top 200 to close to the top 30 right now, so he is my answer.” “Winning a [ATP] 500 is a huge result, he’s not going anywhere, barring health, he’s going to be a nightmare for many players for many years to come.” the 39-year-old added. Isner’s faith in Perricard’s future underscores the potential for the young star to make a significant mark in tennis history. “Lewis lost that championship unfairly. Could you imagine the roles being reversed?” : George Russell fires shots at Max Verstappen

“Lewis lost that championship unfairly. Could you imagine the roles being reversed?” : George Russell fires shots at Max Verstappen In a surprising turn of events, George Russell vs Max Verstappen has now become the hottest rivalry starting next season. On what initiated as a simple one-place grid penalty for impeding the Briton which demoted the Dutchman from pole position in the Qatar GP, things seem to have escalated. On Thursday’s news conference, Russell addressed his situation with the now four-time world champion and revealed that the Dutchman threatened him to go out of his way to make him crash and put his head in the wall. He also compared Verstappen to the six-time world champion and teammate Lewis Hamilton, who would never dare to say such thing. “I don’t know why he felt the need for this personal attack and I’m not going to take it. This is me just setting the record straight, I am not going to stand here and let someone slam me personally.” “I knew that was a spur of the moment thing, but the next day, we were joking around a bit with (Sergio) Perez and Carlos (Sainz), I saw it in his eyes that he meant it.” “He’s a four-time champion. Lewis (Hamilton) is the champion I aspire to be – hard but fair; never beyond the line. We have a duty as drivers. For a world champion to come out and say he is going to go out of his way to crash into someone and put him on his head, that is not the example we should be setting.” George Russell addressed his situation boldly. Although, the Dutchman also came out to speak to De Telegraf, where he revealed that the Briton is putting false accusations towards him and he never said anything of sorts to Russell, but not before calling him a ‘loser’ and a ‘backstabber’. “He lies and pastes all kinds of things together that aren’t true.” “That’s not true. I didn’t say it like that. He’s trying to exaggerate it again.” Verstappen said when asked about Russell’s claims. “Lewis stood up to him in ’21” : George Russell claims Max Verstappen to be a bully George Russell was not finished firing shots at the Dutchman just yet. He additionally called out Verstappen’s inability to deal with adversity, hinting that Red Bull have spoon-fed him with the best cars, and when something does not go his way, he starts to spiral, giving examples of Lando Norris in Budapest and his current teammate. Russell believes that this behaviour of Verstappen has increased so much because of nobody standing up to him, except for Lewis Hamilton in 2021 where he lost the championship unfairly. “Lewis stood up to him in 2021, and Lewis lost that championship unfairly. Could you imagine the roles being reversed? I mean, [Michael] Masi would be fearing for his life.” Russell also spoke about the race director Michael Masi. “I’m not looking for any repercussion from this, I am standing up for myself to a guy who is questioning my reputation and slamming me in the media.” the Briton added. While Max Verstappen has already said that he possesses absolutely no regrets for the comments he has said to George Russell, things have gotten more serious after the inclusion of Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff, who was also present with Russell in the conference. The Austrian called out Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner, who called Russell ‘hysterical’. Wolff did not appreciate this one bit. “Why does he feel entitled to comment about my driver? If you’re thinking about it, yapping little terrier, always something to say. His forte is not intellectual psychoanalysis, but that’s quite a word. How dare you comment on the state of mind of my driver.” the Mercedes CEO said. “I’ve not been at my best in dealing with those emotions” : Lewis Hamilton ahead of his final race with Mercedes at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

“I’ve not been at my best in dealing with those emotions” : Lewis Hamilton ahead of his final race with Mercedes at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix The dreaded day for Mercedes fans is upon them, as Lewis Hamilton begins his preparations for his last race with the Silver Arrows, after 12 long years of winning world championships and building a legacy with them. But the seven-time world champion has only recently come across his feelings of what it actually is like to leave after the final race ends. The Briton was already a Ferrari man even before the start of the season, and since then has had his hands full from something or the other. But now that the realisation is starting to hit, Hamilton recently opened up about how he underestimated the emotional level of difficulty of leaving the German team behind after so many successful years with the people whose faces he has seen every day, starting from Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff. “The first meeting with Toto at the beginning of the year was awkward, of course it was awkward from the get-go.” Hamilton said. “The day after I took the team paintballing and they had just found out … I got a lot of shots and had loads of bruises. People went in on me that day! I anticipated it would be difficult but massively underestimated how difficult. It was straining on the relationship very early on. Took time for people to get past it.” the Briton revealed that it was initially hard for the people close to him to take in his departure from Mercedes. Besides other people, the Briton himself has not had the greatest of seasons due to poor mistakes during qualifications or simply because his car was not up to the consistent standards. Still, Hamilton was able to win two Grand Prix and has showed glimpses of his usual self throughout the year. But he admits that on a personal note, he was not at his best and wants us to understand his humanity, just like every other person. “For my own self, it’s been a very emotional year for me and I think I’ve not been at my best in dealing with those emotions,” he added. “I think you’ve all seen the worst of me and the best of me and I’m not going to apologise for either because I’m only human and I’m not always going to get it right.” “I would definitely say this year has been one of the worst in terms of handling it from my side, which I’ll try to be better at. I hope the good and the highs far outweigh the negatives in terms of how I’ve behaved.” Hamilton explained. Lewis Hamilton also acknowledged the support he has received from people close throughout his career, and is thankful for them in being a part of his illustrious journey. “I just remember the good times and I’ve built some incredible relationships. When you go through a season together with so many people, not only on those weekends you are riding highs and lows together but also in their personal lives, through marriages, through divorces, through loss of family members, through cancer, through all sorts.” “You are going through all these moments with people and it’s a really beautiful journey you go on together. Being there for so long, the emotions run so deep.” the Briton said. With Lewis Hamilton’s prime years behind him, he will leave a part of him at Mercedes behind as well, but next year will offer us something much more than the Briton just having a change of uniform colours, as he will attempt to start his journey with the Italian team in the best way possible, by breaking the record of the number of world championships. “He entered tennis when Federer and Nadal were at the highest level” : Julia Apostoli, mother of Stefanos Tsitsipas believes Novak Djokovic to be the best among the Big 3

“He entered tennis when Federer and Nadal were at the highest level” : Julia Apostoli, mother of Stefanos Tsitsipas believes Novak Djokovic to be the best among the Big 3 While the Big 3 have established themselves as the undisputed greatest tennis players of all time, the debate of who is the best among the trio shall always remain due to the nature of all three’s abilities and rivalries against each other, and not to forget the ridiculous amount of trophies and accolades they possess. Stefanos Tsitsipas’s mother and former professional tennis player Julia Apostoli has an interesting take on the GOAT debate. She believes that out of the three, Novak Djokovic is the one who had it harder from the start of his career. Debuting at a time when Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were at the top of the game, the Serbian slowly rose through the ranks and ultimately was at the level of the duo, while some even say that he has gone past them. Not to mention, Djokovic has the most number of Grand Slam titles (24) among the trio and while both the Swiss and the Spainard have now retired, his time does not seem to be arriving anytime in the near future. While praising the 37-year-old, Apostoli also addressed his many doubters, and believes that some time or another, they will all understand as to why he is the best. “Djokovic is a self-made man. No PR. In other words, he entered tennis when Federer and Nadal were at the highest level. They were already the fathers of tennis. And Djokovic was not a name, but over time, as time has shown, he proved that everything is possible. Those who condemn him will need time to reassess this,” the 60-year-old said while talking to Russian vlogger Dychkovsky in a YouTube interview (translated to English from Russian). “I am a bit sad because my greatest rivals have left” : Novak Djokovic after Rafael Nadal joins Roger Federer in retirement The Serbian is the last great left of the golden era of tennis after the retirement of the Spainard and even Andy Murray, who has joined the Serbian’s team as his coach. After his exhibition match at Buenos Aires Parque Roca stadium against Argentine Juan Martin del Potro, who has also recently retired, Djokovic addressed his sadness over his friends, who are also his greatest rivals all leaving the sport. He also believes that a part of him left along with them, but he still tries to remain motivated for what is to come. “I am still playing and I believe I am part of a golden era. Federer, Nadal, Murray, Delpo, Wawrinka… it is a very special era for our sport. Our personal careers have been influenced by all these rivalries of the last 15 years. For me, looking at this year, it is an incredible thing. I am a bit sad because my greatest rivals have left,” the Serbian said (via Punto de Break). “A part of me, in terms of tennis, also leaves with them, but I continue to seek this motivation. Now I work with a new coach, one of my biggest rivals, who inspires me to see if we can achieve great things in our sport,” the 24-time Grand Slam champion added. Novak Djokovic, now along with coach Andy Murray, has unfinished business to attend to starting next month in the Australian Open, where he will look to take down the current two best in the world, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
