The 22-time Grand Slam champion has nothing left to prove as he has already sealed his legacy as one of the best, while also being part of the ‘Big 3’ in tennis history. But during the final phase of his historic career, the Spainard has been battling injuries, leading him to participate in less tournaments than before which has also affected his form. Nadal in 2024 has only participated in the French Open which he lost in the first round against Alexander Zverev, and the Paris Olympics, and ruled out his appearance in the Wimbledon and US Open. The 38-year-old legend currently ranks 154th in the ATP World Rankings list. Clearly, the Spaniard is just a shadow of his former self, and questions about his retirement loom around often. That his summer didn’t go as well as planned because, at the French Open he had a tough draw. Olympics, he had a tough draw as well. He was hoping, I think, to make a medal,” said the Swiss. “He [Nadal] can do whatever he wants, he’s been one of the most iconic tennis players we’ve ever had in our sport. I just hope he can go out on his terms and the way he wants to. He’s a great guy, great career,” the 43-year-old added. Roger Federer was able to retire on his own terms in one of the most memorable and emotional moments in sports history, at the 2022 Laver Cup.
