“It doesn’t strike me as an essential signing for Manchester United” : Gary Neville was skeptical over Manchester United’s pursuit of Raheem Sterling

“It doesn’t strike me as an essential signing for Manchester United” : Gary Neville was skeptical over Manchester United’s pursuit of Raheem Sterling The Red Devils have been one of the busiest clubs in the top 5 leagues during the summer transfer window. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS have made important additions to strengthen the squad overall, with the signings of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui for defensive duties while also bringing in Joshua Zirkzee for implementing their attacking ways. There have also been major departures to be able to secure these signings, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Hannibal Mejri, Mason Greenwood and Donny van de Beek seeing out from the club. The signings have not stopped though, as United also recently agreed the deal to sign Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte for a hefty fee, which has led to criticism among the fanbase that whether or not the 23-year-old is worth the price tag. Erik ten Hag would certainly be a happy man regardless, but with the transfer deadline coming up soon, the Red Devils have been linked with yet another star player, although a bit more polarizing than others. Gary Neville opines on why Raheem Sterling was not a good option for Manchester United Ever since his departure from Manchester City two years ago, Raheem Sterling has been facing problems in his career, whether it is due to injuries or in terms of form. The Englishman was also not included in the recent Euros squad, and the last straw came when new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca publicly stated that the 29-year-old is not in his plans going into the season. Football pundit and former Manchester United skipper Gary Neville also revealed that he is not in favour of the Englishman joining Manchester United this summer due to the already available options they have, although he previously liked working with him in England. “I love Raheem Sterling, I worked with him very closely with England when I was there, but I’m not sure why Manchester United would see that as a piece of business,” said the 49-year-old (via Sky Sports). “Looking at their squad, they’ve got players who they want to get the best out of – they’ve got Amad, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Marcus Rashford who play in those areas, if they’re losing faith in one or some of those players, then maybe they would sign Sterling. But it doesn’t strike me as an essential signing for Manchester United. They’ve got four players in those areas who they need to play into form.” Neville added. The Red Devils currently possess a stacked roster and have great backup options available in each position, especially the wings where youngsters Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo are proving themselves every match. Although both Marcus Rashford and Antony have not had the greatest of years, it would have been disrespectful to both of them by signing a 29-year-old Sterling who is coming off a dry stretch himself. “There are no bad feelings, and there is no betrayal” : Toto Wolff on Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari

“There are no bad feelings, and there is no betrayal” : Toto Wolff on Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari The current F1 season has been one of the most topsy-turvy yet entertaining year for fans and media, with several different grand prix winners, close finishes and controversies. But the biggest bomb of the season was already dropped in February when Sir Lewis Hamilton decided to race for Scuderia Ferrari. After 12 long years of racing for the Silver Arrows whist winning six F1 world titles along the way, the Briton, who signed a new contract just the previous year with them, finally decided to part ways and join the Italian team as he did not accept the 1+1 deal given by the AMG Petronas. The ‘greatest F1 driver of all time’ secured world championships with the German team in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, while narrowly missing out on his eighth in 2021 regards to the current best driver in the world in Red Bulls’ Max Verstappen. The Briton will now have a new partner-in-crime in Charles Leclerc, as the 39-year-old will surely provide key contributions not just individually but to the whole team due to his experience and successes over the years. Although many fans of the Silver Arrows were heartbroken due to Hamilton’s departure, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff recently revealed that there were no bad feelings and that he respects the Briton’s decision. “Maybe he needed to, in a way, change and reinvent himself” : Toto Wolff respects Lewis Hamilton’s decision of joining Ferrari While previously there were rumors around social media that contract negotiations between the Briton and the German team went the wrong way, the Australian billionaire reinstated that Lewis Hamilton simply chose the better offer for himself, and that there were no bad feelings from both parties when the 1+1 contract was offered. “We decided as a team that and we were always very transparent with Lewis the good thing with him is he is able to put himself in your position and understood where we were coming from. So, in that respect, there are no bad feelings, and there is no betrayal. It was also for the good of him to change,” said the 52-year-old (via BBC). “This was the longest run between a driver and a team. It was 12 years overall. And maybe he needed to, in a way, change and reinvent himself. Being a driver for Ferrari is super-prestigious. Maybe for us as a team also it is important to emancipate ourselves and go in a different direction.” the former motorsport driver added. With Lewis Hamilton almost gone, the Silver Arrows have the opportunity and time to find a suitable replacement. While Toto Wolff’s dream signing would that of the Dutchman, the Briton earlier revealed that he backs Andrea Kimi Antonelli as his replacement for the next season.  A new era for both the German and Italian team is about to start next season, and fans all over the world will be seated for what is turning out to be one of the most exciting and competitive F1 seasons ever Also Read: “That’s literally inviting him to leave” : F1 Pundit suggests Lewis Hamilton was ‘forced’ out of Mercedes

“I actually like listening to music before getting into the car” : Charles Leclerc reveals his pre-race routine

“I actually like listening to music before getting into the car” : Charles Leclerc reveals his pre-race routine Charles Leclerc has achieved global stardom ever since joining Scuderia Ferrari, and is often the recipient of the mainstream media’s attention. The 26-year-old now takes it to another level, by signing a new partnership with CELSIUS. The energy drink brand earlier achieved Ferrari’s signature as well, and believe that the Monaco-based driver is the perfect brand ambassador and fit their motto of ‘performance and excellence’ as well. Leclerc will be the main man for the brand, starring in commercials all over social media and retail, while also occasionally participating in events for CELSIUS. For the 26-year-old’s point of view, he calls it as a ‘natural’ partnership as he has been a fan of the energy drinks since the partnership with Ferrari took place, with the ‘cosmic vibe’ flavour being his favourite. The Monaco driver also revealed that CELSIUS is a good fit for his lifestyle as well. “I’m super excited to represent a brand that actually helps me to achieve maximum performance. Obviously, time is very limited in my sport, and whenever I’m getting into the car, I need to be fully ready and fully focused straight away. Celsius couldn’t fit better with my lifestyle and also the professional part of my life with Formula 1.” said Leclerc (via Rolling Stone). Charles Leclerc reveals pre-race routine and his love for music Charles Leclerc also mentioned how the energy drinks fit right into his pre-race routines, which start with plain chicken and rice on Sunday. The F1 star also makes sure to get plenty of hydration before stepping into his car, and that is where CELSIUS comes in. “It’s super important for me to always do exactly the same things over and over, just to make sure that my state of mind is always the same whenever I get into the car, the grid is hectic, and there are so many people [there] and you are requested basically everywhere, and that’s only 10 or 15 minutes before you start the race. So it’s important to kind of have a routine,” the 26-year-old explained.  “Right before getting into the car, a CELSIUS to give me the proper boost for the race start,” added the Ferrari star. Although Charles Leclerc likes to remain calm and relaxed before heading out for the race, he recently discovered that music helps him keeps his mind off things and lets him stay in his own flow state. “It’s still quite new, but now I actually like listening to music before getting into the car. It helps me to separate myself from this hectic grid, and to be a bit more in my zone and on my own,” the 26-year-old admitted. Charles Leclerc has a history with music, as the Monacan taught himself how to play the piano, and also shocked fans by releasing some songs on Spotify worldwide. Though he admits his love for music is just a hobby for now, and that he is much better on the racetrack than on a piano.  Also Read: “That’s literally inviting him to leave” : F1 Pundit suggests Lewis Hamilton was ‘forced’ out of Mercedes

“Track athletes do it for a living” : Micah Parsons believes Tyreek Hill will not be able to Noah Lyles in a track event

“Track athletes do it for a living” : Micah Parsons believes Tyreek Hill will not be able to Noah Lyles in a track event The debate regarding who is the faster athlete between Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill is the most talked about sports news in the western world right now. This ‘dispute’ between the two athletes started during the Paris Olympics when Lyles stated that Super Bowl champions are not world champions, whereas the Miami Dolphins wide receiver stated that he would beat Lyles if a race were ever to happen. After throwing a few jabs at each other in interviews, there has still been nothing official surrounding this beef, but the debates continue to rage on social media with fans picking their sides. Following this, even some famous personalities of the NFL got into the debate, with linebacker Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys saying that although he admired how quick Hill is, he should stay as far away as possible from Noah Lyles. “He (Noah Lyles) do sound a little corny sometimes, but man, that boy fast. Tyreek, don’t want none of that. No. Tyreek , stay away from that. Man, you don’t want that. I mean, a professional runner,” said the 25-year-old in an interview. “I’m gonna take Noah Lyles. I put the 50 up. You just ain’t trained for it. Now you talking about a year or two of training. It’s different. It’s real different, but fresh out of your sleep, stay away from that, Reek. You can outrun some football players, but track speed different. I learned that,” Parsons added. “Track athletes would destroy any fast football player” : Ronde Barber Most recently, former Tampa Bay cornerback and NFL legend Ronde Barber got into the mix, and revealed where he stands regarding this date. Barber made some wise points, and admitted that track and field athletes prepare in a different way than football players and would easily get rid of them if there was a race. “I was a terrific hurdler in high school since I started really young. The first time I cleared a hurdle, I believe I was in sixth grade. By the time I reached the 10th grade and started competing at a higher level, I had been honing my skills for four years. I would often wonder why these sprinters, Noah Lyles or anyone else, are so fast; why they can regularly run nine somethings when 10.5 [seconds] was considered fast in the past,” the 49-year-old said in an interview. Ronde Barber, who stated that his first love has always been track and field, believes that when it comes to a race, professional runners would beat even the fastest football players due to their technique, experience in the field, and the way they have trained over the years. Although both are busy in their respective current endeavours, it is becoming quite clear that if a race were to ever happen, there will be far too many bets on the three-time Olympic medalist than the 30-year-old wide receiver. “I don’t see what the problem is” : Arsenal legend reacts to Mikel Arteta picking Gabriel Martinelli over Belgian winger

“There will always be competition” : Arsenal legend reacts to Mikel Arteta not dropping Gabriel Martinelli over Belgian winger Over the past couple of seasons, Arsenal have built a solid foundation in their squad, with key players all over the pitch. However, the only area where fans are split between who to start are on the wings, particularly the left wing. While the right wing is thoroughly covered by one of the best in the world in Bukayo Saka, there has been a debate regarding who should start on the left, Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard. Both these players have shown cases for themselves as to why they should be the one starting over the other. Gabriel Martinelli has had a sturdy couple of seasons, where the Brazilian has shown he can provide quality and width, and always making key in behind runs. Based on eye test, one can say that the 23-year-old proves to be a greater threat than the Belgian, who is clear when it comes to providing goal contributions. Most recently, the 29-year-old came off the bench replacing a struggling Martinelli and scored a quality goal while being the main target man for the rest of the game. David Seaman does not have an issue with starting Gabriel Martinelli over Leandro Trossard After hitting the back of the net and celebrating in a rather unconventional ‘muted’ way, it was revealed by the Gunners manager Mikel Arteta that the Belgian was rather upset for not starting games, but is always happy to provide important contributions whenever he is approached to. Many fans and pundits have argued that the 29-year-old deserves a chance to start over the Brazilian, but former Arsenal goalkeeper and legend David Seaman does not mind seeing the Belgian coming off the bench. “I don’t see what the problem is. There always will be [competition for places]. Even if it’s the other way around, if he [Trossard] starts first, Martinelli would come on. I think we all know that on that [left] side, that’s where we have the balance with Trossard and Martinelli. On the right side, we only have Buyako Saka,” said the Englishman (via Metro). “He’s got credit from last season and the way he performed last season. Mikel Arteta sees him as a more consistent performer from the start,” said the 60-year-old regarding Gabriel Martinelli’s form. Whether Mikel Arteta gives the Belgian his well-deserved start or not is unknown for now, it would not really be surprising if the Spainard does switch the two on a regular basis, depending upon who they are up against and what playstyle is required. Arsenal plays Leandro Trossard’s ex-club Brighton next matchday, where the Belgian would certainly like to prove a point to any of his doubters. “When I watch him play, I expect certain things to happen” : Mats Wilander backs Carlos Alcaraz on winning at least 10 majors in his career

“When I watch him play, I expect certain things to happen” : Mats Wilander backs Carlos Alcaraz on winning at least 10 majors in his career Carlos Alcaraz has already made significant strides for himself at just the timid age of 21. The Spaniard is on his way to cement his legacy as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, with fans and media alike believing he is the next big thing after the dominance of the ‘Big 3’. Carlos Alcaraz, who burst into the scene after winning the 2022 US Open, is now already a four-time Grand Slam champion and the reigning Wimbledon and French Open champion. Add that to his silver medal in this year’s Paris Olympics, if the Spaniard would retire on the spot, his career would still be talked about for years to come. Looking at his resume, former world no.1 player Mats Wilander has already taken a guarantee that the Spaniard will become an all-time great once it is all set and done. The seven-time Grand Slam champion also admires the unique ‘flair’ the 21-year-old brings to his game. “I think we’ve realised that he is going to be among the best players of all time, already at 21” : Mats Wilander all praises for the youngster The 60-year-old had a lot to say about the Spainard, as he believes that he will easily have 10 or more majors while simultaneously becoming a better player than even the likes of Andy Murray or potentially the ‘Big 3’. “Since he was here last year, he’s won Wimbledon, the French Open, a silver medallist … I think we’ve realised that he is going to be among the best players of all time, already at 21. He is an artist, he is passionate and can hit every shot. Now we know that he has a little bit of anger there like most 21-year-olds. It shows his fire,” said the Swedish (via Eurosport). “When I watch him play, I expect certain things to happen that have never happened on a tennis court before. And I don’t expect that from Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal or Andy Murray. At times, Roger Federer would deliver moments like this though with his level,” Wilander added. The Swedish was still not done praising the Spainard though, as he explained how versatile he is, having an answer for every single shot in addition to his quickness. “For Alcaraz, in the beginning, it was the variety, the drop shots, hard forehands, serve and volley. He is faster than anyone I’ve ever seen on a tennis court. After the French Open this year and after Wimbledon this year, he wasn’t playing his best but still pulled through. That’s why I think he will easily win 10 majors in his career,” said the 60-year-old. After easily clearing the first round against Li Tu, the Spaniard already has his sights set on winning his fifth major, but competition is at an all time high, with the Jannik Sinner coming fresh off his Cincinnati Open win while the evergreen Novak Djokovic just refuses to let the new generation take over. The road to the final of the US Open has just started, and it will be interesting to see which two players will end up at the Arthur Ashe stadium come September 8. Which is the Longest Match in US Open history?

Which is the Longest Match in US Open history? The US Open tournament has had its fair share of tough battles where players lasted on the court for hours on end, with no sign of the match ending anytime soon. This tournament has been played out annually ever since 1881 and we have seen some of the best players leave it all on the court with no holding back. But for how long some of these most iconic matches were played out? If we look at recent times, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, two of the best players coming out of this generation, played out a modern classic for an astounding 5 hours and 15 minutes in the quarter-finals of the US Open 2022. The Spainard made an incredible comeback against the Italian, taking the match to the fifth set as he won four games on the trot to reach his first Grand Slam semi-final back then. Alcaraz eventually ended up winning the whole tournament. But what is actually the longest ever match recorded in US Open history? Let’s take a trip back all the way to 1992. Stefan Edberg v Michael Chang – 5 hours and 26 minutes The longest match in US Open history was played on September 12, 1992 between Stefan Edberg and Michael Chang in the semi-finals. For 5 hours and 26 minutes, this legendary match is not only known for its time, but was also recognized as a classic and one the greatest matches ever in tennis history due to the players’ incredible endurance, strategy and mindset at that time. Stefan Edberg at that point in his career was an already established player, with the Swedish having multiple Grand Slam victories under his belt. While the American, Michael Chang was relatively younger with less experience, although he was the 1989 French Open winner at the timid age of 17. The match was played at the Louis Armstrong stadium with five gruesome sets which tested both the players at every single stage. After four sets including two tiebreakers, the Swedish managed to barely edge out the American 6-4 to march onto the finals, eventually winning the US Open 1992. This marathon match between two greats remains a defining moment in US Open history, and at that point was the longest ever match in the Open Era of tennis. Edberg’s victory and Chang’s never give up attitude showcased the sheer physical and mental battles, mind and body connection, and the endurance that are required at the highest level in sports. Longest Match in US Open History – Dan Evans vs Karen Khachanov Dan Evans and Karen Khachanov broke the record for the longest match in US Open history, when they clashed against each other in the first round of the Grand Slam in 2024. The duo battled it out for 5 hours and 35 minutes, with Dan Evans just edging out the Russian in five sets. Dan Evans knocked out the 23rd seed by a score-line of 6-7, 7-6, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4. Karen Khachanov had a healthy lead in the final set, however, it was the Briton’s brilliance which helped him win a topsy-turvy encounter. Also Read: Most aces served in a US Open match

“I honestly can’t think of a better finisher and greater white-ball player” : James Anderson lavishes praise on Virat Kohli

“I honestly can’t think of a better finisher and greater white-ball player” : James Anderson lavishes praise on Virat Kohli In a career spanning over two decades, James Anderson, widely considered as the finest test bowler that has ever attempted to play the game, has had the privilege of squaring off against some of the greatest batsmen in the world. Most recently, the Englishman deemed who he thinks is the greatest white-ball finisher and batsman of all time. His answer was none other than one of his fiercest rivals in Virat Kohli. The Indian and Englishman go way back, having being put up against each other several times, and to this date, their rivalry leaves room for debate regarding who ultimately came out the winner between them. But the mutual respect that both legends of the sport share is second to none. Both have admired each other in several interviews and have acknowledged their impeccable skills and game knowledge. The 42-year-old took it one step further, after recognizing Kohli as the greatest white-ball finisher ever. “I do not know if there is been a better batter in the history of the game batting second” : James Anderson on Virat Kohli’s clutch gene In a recent interview with the Tailenders podcast, the Englishman admired the way the Indian batter finishes off games, while also achieving his own personal milestones on the way. “I do not know if there is been a better batter in the history of the game batting second and chasing down scores than Virat Kohli. His record at chasing is absolutely phenomenal. The number of hundreds he has scored in the second innings, chasing down scores is ridiculous. It is no surprise that when he gets in that situation, with his mentality, it is just like it is meant to be. His self-belief is so high,” said the former English bowler. When asked if Kohli is the greatest white-ball batsman ever, the 42-year-old also mentioned the name of Australia’s Michael Bevan, who was also known for his finishing skills coming way down the order. Although, Anderson did admit that alongside finishing Virat Kohli is one of the greatest batsmen in white-ball. “I cannot say that. I was thinking more in terms of just chasing. [As for the best white-ball batter ever,] Michael Bevan from Australia comes to my mind, particularly in the late 1990s and early 2000s – he was just phenomenal coming in at number six and doing that job, Kohli batting at number 3 gets those hundreds while Bevan was renowned for getting his 50s, 60s and being at the end, while Kohli gets the big score, to get his teams over the line. I honestly can’t think of a better finisher and greater white-ball players than him [Kohli].” the 42-year-old added. It is no surprise that the 35-year-old gets praised by fellow cricketers and analysts worldwide on a regular basis. The Indian batter has set a standard for himself that is hard for even the best to match with. Virat Kohli has been ‘the’ batsman alongside the other members of the ‘Fab 4’ to be compared with. Add the immense control over his fitness, age does not seem a factor for the star of the Indian cricket team to slow down just yet. “That’s literally inviting him to leave” : F1 Pundit suggests Lewis Hamilton was ‘forced’ out of Mercedes

“That’s literally inviting him to leave” : F1 Pundit suggests Lewis Hamilton was ‘forced’ out of Mercedes After being with the AMG Petronas for over a decade, Lewis Hamilton is finally about to embark on an iconic journey very late in his career, after shocking the world with his move to Scuderia Ferrari. But the key details behind the curtain as to how this transfer happened were anything but smooth. With the Briton’s contract on the verge of expiring, Mercedes initially offered him a year’s contract but eventually settled for a 1+1, which means the 39-year-old had the option to extend. Seeing this, the Italian team took advantage of the situation and offered Hamilton a multi-year contract, something which Mercedes were unable to match and an offer which the Briton could ultimately not refuse. Lewis Hamilton would have liked to stay at Mercedes, but after viewing the offers, he basically had no choice but to move on to the Reds. This decision backfired on the Silver Arrows as fans and pundits alike hugely criticized their failure for not being able to keep the greatest F1 driver of all time, who most likely would have ended his professional career with them. “It’s a bit of a slap in the face” : Will Buxton on Mercedes’ inefficient management regarding Hamilton’s contract Recently, British motorsport journalist and presenter Will Buxton addressed the issue regarding the Briton’s contract, and called out the Silver Arrows for their novice and miscalculated approach of dealing with Lewis Hamilton. “Mercedes wanted Antonelli. If they didn’t want Antonelli, they’d have given Lewis a two-year contract. How do you give a seven-time world champion a 1 + 1 ? That’s literally inviting him to leave. It’s a bit of a slap in the face ya know…,” said the 43-year-old (via DRS: De Racing Show). Buxton also praised the Italian team for signing the Briton ahead of Mercedes’ unfortunate loss, and did not let Toto Wolff’s decision hamper this significant achievement. “The greatest driver in history moving to statistically the greatest team in history…what a moment, what a story.” Buxton added. Mercedes will obviously miss the presence of Lewis Hamilton in every way possible, as the Briton has spent the prime of his career with them, winning six world titles to show for it. Not to mention, financially the AMG Petronas might go on a bit of a downwards spiral as well. But for Lewis Hamilton, a special start to his special career is about to start soon. List of Armand Duplantis World Records – How much does the Swede pole vaulter earn for breaking his own world record?

List of Armand Duplantis World Records – How much does the Swede pole vaulter earn for breaking his own world record? Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis has made a habit of breaking his own records, not once, twice, but multiple times. The Swedish once again broke his own world record in the Sierra Diamond League recently, now making it 6.26 metres. In this article we will look at how much the Swede pole vaulter earns for breaking his own world record? It is sheer insanity that we are witnessing, as no other athlete (bar the household names of Lionel Messi and Michael Jordan) has dominated their sport in such a way, that too at the age of 24. The Swedish is already the greatest pole vaulter of all time without a shadow of a doubt in everyone’s minds. It gets even more crazy and special when you look at the top 10 highest recorded pole vaults of all time, and there is no name reflected other than that of Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis. 1. Armand Duplantis 6.17m Arena, Toruń (POL) (i) 08 FEB 2020 Armand Duplantis World Records How much does Armand Duplantis earn for breaking his world records? The Swedish has now broken his own world record for the 10th time, and it is not like he has broken these records in a matter of years. The 24-year-old outperforms himself on a regular basis, sometimes even a few weeks or days apart. It has been revealed that Duplantis earns between $30,000 and $100,000 every time he breaks his own record from his sponsor, Puma, according to TIME. Due to this, some fans on social media speculate if he knowingly breaks his personal best by a margin of centimetres, for gaining some extra earnings. If this is true, it is a very smart and economical move by the Swedish, who fans think can easily cross 6.40 metres currently, and eventually the 6.50 metres by the end of his career. But when you have effectively been competing with yourself since the start of your professional career, these perks seemed obvious to come around sooner or later.
