Bryce James ‘confident’ that he can beat his father LeBron James

Bryce James ‘confident’ that he can beat his father LeBron James in a 1v1 situation The ‘King’ will be making history as he will be the first player in NBA to have his own son as a teammate, as rookie Bronny James Jr. is set to compete with the Los Angeles Lakers this coming season. But out of the two sons of LeBron, it is the younger one who is usually lauded as a better player and someone who can be one of the top picks in the NBA draft. Bryce James who is only 17, is about to enter his first year in college basketball. His development and progress have been tracked down since many years, and it is believed that he possesses a special ‘flair’ in his game, much like his own father. Being naturally poised in the shooting guard position, Bryce’s game is focused more on shooting, dribbling and technical play. But a recent video gone viral may have pointed out a flaw (or a big mindset) about Bryce. The 17-year-old believes that he can outwit one of the greatest basketball players in a 1v1. Bryce James is not afraid of a challenge In a recent X (formerly known as Twitter) post by NBA Future Stars Now, Bryce was seen getting interviewed, as he revealed the different kinds of advice that LeBron has given him about his game throughout the years, and also how he has inspired Bryce personally, coming from humbling backgrounds. But the main talking point about this post was when the 17-year-old was asked about a question with a rather obvious answer. “Who do you think would win 1 on 1, you or your dad?” Bryce James answered with a straight face that he would be able to best his dad. Although he may well have been talking ironically, but can he really beat the ‘King’ with no one’s help? The short answer is – no, at least not just yet. LeBron James, who recently won the FIBA Olympics MVP award is still not going down at the age of 39, and history has taught us that it never goes well betting against the Lakers superstar. Bryce still has a few years left to unlock his true potential, and if he could play with his dad in the NBA is a matter of luck and time. But seeing how well his progress is going, the 17-year-old may well surprise even his dad in 1v1. “Kobe is Michael Jordan, just on steroids” : Shai Gilgeous-Alexander makes a very bold claim on the ‘GOAT’ debate

“Kobe is Michael Jordan, just on steroids” : Shai Gilgeous-Alexander makes a very bold claim on the ‘GOAT’ debate In basketball, only two players can be termed as an outright ‘GOAT’ of their sport, Michael Jordan and LeBron James. But soon after those heavy-hitters, the name of a certain Black Mamba is heard more often than not. Kobe Bryant has inspired generations, not just because of his scoring techniques and the wide variety of skillsets he possessed in his bag, but the mindset with which he achieved his greatness. When people talk about Kobe Bryant, they talk about how he made them fall in love with basketball at a young age, while others comment on following his words to achieve something they never thought they would. It is clear that the name Kobe Bryant is one of the few athletes in history that have transcended sports and become a worldwide phenomenon. While he is usually considered as one of the best players of all time, calling him the outright ‘GOAT’ might be a bit blasphemous, and OKC star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has done just that. “Kobe has five rings, what’s your argument” : Shai Gilgeous-Alexander A recent clip of the Canadian reflecting his take on the ‘GOAT’ debate has gone viral in social media. In a heated debate with young fans, Shai was dead set on the Black Mamba being his pick for the greatest basketball player ever. While the young fans could not change his mind and followed with another question of who is the best all-round player, the 26-year-old still had the same answer. “Kobe Bryant is Michael Jordan, just on steroids… What’re you talking about? Kobe has five rings. What’s your argument? And I’m saying all around, Kobe Bryant,” said the Canadian. The number of rings is always a huge talking point when it comes to the ‘GOAT’ debate, and Shai’s comment on Bryant having five rings may well be the only respectable take coming from the clip. Apart from this, the only other argument one can make on behalf of Kobe would be that he has been more influential than both MJ and LeBron, but that’s about it. The Canadian’s take on Bryant being the greatest is obviously his own personal opinion. Fans on social media have already disproved this opinion, also terming it as ‘disrespectful’, just for the simple fact that MJ and LeBron James are the most complete players in basketball history. While Kobe was mainly the focal point when it came to shooting and scoring, this duo has involved themselves in every aspect of the game. Not to mention, Michael Jordan was the mentor of the Black Mamba in his initial years, the time when he decided to base his gameplay on the Chicago Bulls icon. “He used to call me, text me, 11:30 p.m., 2:30 a.m., 3:00 a.m., talking about post-up moves, footwork, the triangle (offense). At first, it was an aggravation, but then it turned into a certain passion. This kid had passion like you would never know,” Michael Jordan about the time Kobe Bryant was trying to learn his move set (via NBA.com). Over the years, Jordan has mentioned Bryant countless times, as the two became great friends in addition to the Black Mamba calling him as his elder brother. Jordan was one of the most important people in Bryant’s life, and played a huge part on Bryant becoming one of the greats in the industry. “We’re coming to New York to play, and they’re talking about LeBron” : David Lee reveals what fueled Kobe Bryant to deliver historic 61 point game in MSG

“We’re coming to New York to play, and they’re talking about LeBron” : David Lee reveals what fueled Kobe Bryant to deliver historic 61 point game in MSG Former New York Knicks player David Lee was recently invited to the ‘Garden Party’ podcast with Edie Falco, where they discussed many topics, including reminiscing about the 2000’s Knicks era, and the impact 9/11 had on the Madison Square Garden arena and the players. Amongst all this, David Lee also opened up about the ‘Dream Week’, where the Knicks hosted Kobe Bryant’s Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, LeBron James’s Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, and the reigning NBA champions Boston Celtics on Friday in the iconic MSG arena. But during this week, the NYC media caused a lot of hype around LeBron James coming to town, which sidelined the ‘Mamba’. As we already know, Kobe Bryant used to possess the biggest ego during his prime years, and this ‘insult’ obviously did not sit well with him. “I may have been wrong. He might be able to do this by himself” : David Lee reveals hilarious interaction with coach Mike D’Antoni Although the hype around LeBron James, a then well-established star who did not reach his fullest potential yet, was somewhat justified, David Lee recalls that Kobe Bryant took this matter personally. “So, Kobe hears this, and he’s like, ‘Wait a second. You mean to tell me we’re coming to New York to play, and they’re talking about LeBron? That’s what everyone’s talking about right now? We’re the best team in the West right now,’” said Lee. The American also addressed his hilarious talk with coach Mike D’Antoni about how difficult it will be to stop Bryant from wreaking havoc. “So, I go back, Mike D’Antoni’s our coach. I said, ‘Mike, man. I don’t know what’s about to happen, but it’s not gonna be good.’ Mike’s a really fun-loving guy, and he goes, ‘Well s***, David, he can’t beat us by himself.’ So I go, ‘OK.’ So, he gets the jump ball and walks right in, and makes a three. Then he makes like another driving layup. He’s got like seven points in the first few minutes. Coach calls a timeout, he goes, ‘I may have been wrong. He might be able to do this by himself,”  the 41-year-old recalled. Sure enough, with just under four minutes left on the clock, the ‘Mamba’ went on to break the MSG scoring record previously set by Bernard King, boasting a total of 61 points. The Lakers ended up winning the game by nine points, while also winning the 2009 NBA Finals that season, the first for Kobe Bryant without Shaquille O’Neal in the team. “He will probably be the number one candidate for MVP” : Gilbert Arenas makes bold prediction about Luka Doncic ahead of the new NBA season

“He will probably be the number one candidate for MVP” : Gilbert Arenas makes bold prediction about Luka Doncic ahead of the new NBA season Ever since his arrival in the NBA from Real Madrid, Luka Doncic has easily been a top five scorer in the league, in addition to performing well in other aspects of the game. The Slovenian has now entered the prime of his career, which he has been showcasing from the past two seasons. The 25-year-old has averaged more than 32 points over the past two seasons, while being very close of averaging a triple-double. Coming off sensational season after season, the Dallas Mavericks star is also rumoured to be the chosen replacement of LeBron James, for the 17-time NBA Champions Los Angeles Lakers. Had the Mavericks won over the Celtics in last season’s NBA Finals, the Slovenian would have been the sure shot MVP as well. Recently, former three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas made his choice of Luka Doncic being the MVP for next season and what the 25-year-old should be aiming for. “I’d be surprised if he don’t average a triple-double” : Gilbert Arenas On the Gils Arena Show, the 42-year-old spoke highly of the Slovenian, and believes that he would be surprised if Doncic does not average a triple-double next season, especially with the addition of Klay Thompson in the Dallas Mavericks. “I’d be surprised if he don’t average a triple-double. If you was averaging that many assists with what you had, and now you have a guy who’s a catch-and-shoot. Some of your assists will come without even any effort this time. You should average a triple-double. He will probably be the number one candidate for MVP. He’s going to do something that hasn’t been done in a few years, and that’s average a triple-double,” said the former Warriors man. Gilbert Arenas also pointed out that he does not want to put pressure on the 25-year-old, but if he was so close to averaging a triple-double with ‘what he had’, the addition of Klay Thompson in the team would make assists ‘effortless’ for him. The Warriors icon is coming off a season where he averaged 18 ppg, and would be a huge boost for Doncic and the Mavericks. The last player to average a triple-double was Russell Westbrook in 2021 with the Washington Wizards. Arenas’s statement may well be true because, seeing how the current state of the NBA is, Luka Doncic and the Mavericks’ only real competition will come from the Boston Celtics again later on in the season, and the Slovenian could very well rack up the assists and rebounds required to average a triple-double with the help of his new teammate Klay Thompson.  Also Read: “I know I can jump higher” : Mondo Duplantis on setting greater world records

“It’s not easy to do better each time” : Armand Duplantis reflects on his inability to break the world record at the 2024 Diamond League Finals

“It’s not easy to do better each time” : Armand Duplantis reflects on his inability to break the world record at the 2024 Diamond League Finals Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis has broken the world record in pole vaulting three times this year, first time setting the record at 6.24 metres in China, the second time winning the gold at the Paris Olympics, while setting the record at 6.25 metres. Then finally breaking it yet again a few weeks later in a league meet in Poland, the record which now stands at 6.26 metres. Already considered the greatest pole vaulter of all time at the age of 24, the US born Swede had fans thinking that the world record is about to be broken once again by him in the 2024 Diamond League finals, which he unfortunately failed to do so. But to nobody’s surprise, Mondo Duplantis won the event comfortably, as he was the only athlete who leaped over the 6-metre mark, finally concluding at 6.11 metres. While this was 0.01 metre better than his previous outing here, the Swedish was not satisfied with the performance personally as he was unable to break or even match the world record he set a few weeks prior.  “The world record wasn’t meant to be tonight” : Mondo Duplantis The pole vaulter went the whole 2024 season undefeated, as no competitor of his was even close to catching up with him. The 24-year-old basically spent the whole season trying to break his own personal best, which makes it historic in its own way. With the Diamond League done and dusted, this marks one of the greatest track and field seasons ever by an athlete.  After his victory in Brussels, Duplantis reflected on his season and also revealed his legs did not feel good, but with this year’s track and field season almost at its end, he is looking forward to a well-deserved rest and enjoyment. “My legs felt terrible tonight and I’m just really tired. It’s been a crazy couple of weeks: the race against Karsten and then I had to jump the day after. That took a lot more from my body than I expected. With 6m11 I got a good result, but the world record wasn’t meant to be tonight. It’s not easy to do better each time,” said the pole vaulter (via Wanda Diamond League). “Now it’s time to celebrate my beautiful season: I will drink some good Belgian beers tonight for sure,” the world record holder added. Mondo Duplantis achieved some important accolades as well whilst breaking world records, winning the Indoor World Championship for the second time in his career, winning the Diamond League, and also the coveted Olympic gold medal for the second time in a row. While the Swedish could not break his world record in Brussels, it remains only a matter of time when he will go past 6.26 metres, or even more than that.  Also Read: “He’s too slow for me. “I don’t know how you can put Jordan ahead of him” : Terrence Ross puts LeBron James ahead of Michael Jordan in the GOAT debate

“I don’t know how you can put Jordan ahead of him” : Terrence Ross puts LeBron James ahead of Michael Jordan in the GOAT debate In the past few years, the ‘GOAT’ debate in the NBA has come down to just two players – Michael Jordan and LeBron James. While the Chicago Bulls icon was unanimously the greatest basketball player of all time, the arrival of LeBron James in the Cavaliers slowly but surely made people switch their minds. After James’s historic Olympics performance at the age of 39, which earned him the title of FIBA Olympics MVP as well, the debate has never been hotter than it is right now. Fans, analysts, and even celebrities have gotten in to share their opinion on who they think is better, but so far there is no solid proof. We cannot just look at the stats, number of rings and MVP titles to determine who the better player is. There are far more intricacies involved which makes the ‘GOAT’ debate a complex topic to discuss. Most recently, Terrence Ross, who believes that LeBron James is the greatest, added an interesting take which works in favor of the NBA all-time top scorer. “LeBron is literally, for me now, the GOAT” : Terrence Ross Terrence Ross hailed the 39-year-old, in his opinion, as the greatest of all time. The recently retired NBA star put forth the argument that Michael Jordan was not the same player he was before he took a break from the sport. He also mentioned that Jordan’s two years in the Wizards should hold more weight than it does in the debate, as it shows the unmatchable consistency and longevity LeBron James has provided us with. “LeBron is literally, for me now, the GOAT. I don’t know how you can put Jordan ahead of him. If Jordan had been doing what he was doing for 20 years, I’m like, ‘yeah’. LeBron has a long way to go. The truth is he played basketball twice, came back twice. He got a three-peat on his first return, and the second time he came back he wasn’t the same player. LeBron has literally been at a peak throughout his career, he’s getting older, but he’s still as effective as ever,” said the 33-year-old. The former Phoenix Suns player is not the only one to put forth this point out, as fans who are against Michael Jordan in the debate have also put up the argument that he would not have achieved even half of his accolades if not with the help the Scottie Pippen and coach Phil Jackson. We can say that the ‘GOAT’ debate will never truly be over, even when the ‘King’ eventually retires. The fact that it has gone on for so long is because the gap between the two icons is basically non-existent. In a world where the NBA got to see the likes of Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Shaquille O’Neal, Stephen Curry amongst other legends, the fact that one can say Michael Jordan and LeBron James are the two greatest players of all time is enough proof of their legendary status. “He’s too slow for me. If he wasn’t a scorer, I would cut him” : Lakers legend criticizes Luka Doncic as a potential replacement for LeBron James

“He’s too slow for me. If he wasn’t a scorer, I would cut him” : Lakers legend criticizes Luka Doncic as a potential replacement for LeBron James LeBron James is currently about to enter in his 22nd season in the NBA, and yet, he is still not showing any signs of slowing down just yet. The 39-year-old averaged 25.7 ppg last season, and has been performing this consistently over the last two decades in the NBA. The NBA all-time scoring leader will also create a different kind of history than he usually does, when he teams up with his own son, Bronny James Jr. in the Lakers next season. But eventually, James’s time will run out and he will soon leave the court, and it is up to the LA Lakers to come up with a good solution for the long term. It is quite impossible to ‘replace’ LeBron James, but if recent rumours come up to be true, then the California-based franchise is not far off. Recently, The Ringer’s journalist Kevin O’Connor claimed that the LA Lakers have considered the option of 25-year-old Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks. This may not come as a surprise, as the Slovenian has consistently been one of the best scorers in the NBA for the past few years, and considering his age, he will not be stopping anytime soon. O’Connor also put up the argument that the Lakers will have more than enough salary cap left after James decides to retire. “He’s lazy” : Michael Cooper does not hold back on Luka Doncic Not everyone was excited to hear this news, as Lakers legend Michael Cooper had some harsh words to say about the Slovenian’s game. “He’s too slow for me. If he wasn’t a scorer, I would cut him. I give him credit for that, but to me, he’s lazy. Doesn’t hustle back on defense,” said the 68-year-old (via Showtime with Coop). Cooper won five championships with the Lakers in the 12 years he was there, from 1978 to 1990, so the experienced coach’s statement may have some truth in it. Although, fans on social media did not care for the veteran’s opinion as the majority believe Luka Doncic is the right replacement for the Lakers, at least based on his current form. The 25-year-old has been averaging over 30 ppg from the past two seasons, and was also the league’s top scorer the previous season. But his consistency has been remarkably high ever since joining the league from Real Madrid, as he was named NBA Rookie of the Year in 2019, in addition to being in the All-NBA team and NBA All Star five times. The California franchise desperately need a new superstar in their team, and if we can look past his defensive record, the Slovenian may well be the perfect fit to replace the ‘King’. “As much as I wanted the gold, I’m really proud of myself” : Iona Winnifrith makes history at 13 years old by winning silver at the Paralympics

“As much as I wanted the gold, I’m really proud of myself” : Iona Winnifrith makes history at 13 years old by winning silver at the Paralympics Even after the end of the Paris Olympics, records and surprises have still not stopped just yet. The 2024 Paralympics have continued the trend which has broken major viewership records along the way as well. Great Britain’s Iona Winnifrith has just made history at the Paralympics by winning the silver medal in the 100m breaststroke SB7 this Thursday. The 13-year-old became the youngest British Paralympic swimming medallist this century. The teen was already a double European champion before coming to the Paralympics. The Tonbridge native’s role model which led her to participate in the Paralympics is Ellie Simonds, who herself made history in the 2008 Paralympics held in Beijing, by winning two gold medals in the 100m and 400m freestyle S6 at the same age. And like a true champion mindset, the 13-year-old was not satisfied with her silver medal, as she lost to the new world record set by NPA’s Mariia Pavlova. “I met her a few times… she’s very good talking to us,” said Winnifrith on meeting Ellie Simonds. “Today it just wasn’t enough” : Winnifrith has the gold medal in sight After barely missing the podium in the 200m individual medley S7, the 13-year-old redeemed herself by winning silver in her second event. Winnifrith revealed in the post interview that she was proud of her performance even after not getting the gold, how she got here and what all difficulties she had to go through. “I am really happy about the performance, it’s pretty cool. As much as I wanted that gold, I knew I had to fight for it and that’s what I did. I tried to catch the other girl as much as possible, try and fight her. Today it just wasn’t enough. I knew what I needed. I spoke with my coach (who said), ‘Just try and keep up with the girls all the way through, try and power it through the last lengths.’ And that’s what I did, so really happy with that performance.” said the teenager (via Olympics.com). Although the Briton was aiming for the gold, she broke immense records on the way at her timid age, and was able to make her nation proud regardless of the colour of the medal. “I still had to get used to liking the guy because of all of our battles” : Steph Curry reflects on teaming up with LeBron James in the Olympics

“I still had to get used to liking the guy because of all of our battles” : Steph Curry reflects on teaming up with LeBron James in the Olympics a Apart from the USA assembling a dream team or ‘The Avengers’ as LeBron James previously addressed it, fans got to see two of the greatest basketball players of all time in the same team after a long wait in the Olympics, Stephen Curry and LeBron James. Curry and James go way back, as they had started off as major rivals for each other, with their peak hitting when they competed in four consecutive NBA finals against each other as part of the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers respectively. Over the years, their sheer competitiveness and the quest to be better than the other turned into mutual respect between the two, showing that the once heated rivalry matured and turned the two into friends along the way as well. Fans were finally able to see the duo play together in the recent Paris Olympics, where both Americans were essential in USAB’s Olympic gold victory. Steph Curry admires the longevity and the work done behind it from LeBron James In a recent appearance on ‘The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert’, Steph Curry revealed a precious moment between him and James, where the Lakers superstar backed him up after having a then dry spell during their time together in the Olympic team. “… asked me the same question, ‘What’s wrong with your shot?’ Positive self-talking, ‘No we’re winning. I know it’s going to come, I know a flurry is coming,’” Curry said. “As soon as I said it, LeBron walks behind me, ‘Damn right it is.’ At first, it caught me off guard because I still had to get used to liking the guy because of all of our battles,” said the 36-year-old. The flurry sure did arrive, when Curry was back to his best in the semi-final and final of the Olympics, where he showcased one of his best performances in recent memory against Serbia and France. The Warriors man also created a shocking viral moment which will be remembered for years to come, when he hit five consecutive threes in the last three minutes of the fourth quarter in the final against France and led the team home. The 36-year-old also talked about LeBron James in another interview with PEOPLE magazine’s Natasha Dye, where he praised the 39-year-old’s abysmal longevity which is still making him compete at the highest level possible. “It’s everything that most people don’t get to see, it’s the time on the recovery table, it’s the time in the weight room … That little bit of investment in preparing your body and your mind to perform. There’s nothing really glamorous about it. … I think we motivated each other even more to however much longer we have left playing,” said the Warriors superstar. From heated on-court fights and jabs to admiring each other’s abilities, the duo of Stephen Curry and LeBron James have come a long way while sharing the stage together for about a decade, which has also made them grow and become greater versions of themselves. Although fans will not be able to see the duo play together in the NBA, their little glimpse together in the Olympics showcased what the two can be capable of doing together.
