Chef Curry with a vintage Chef Curry game” : LeBron James waxes lyrical on Stephen Curry after USA book a spot in the gold medal match faceoff LeBron James heaped praise on his teammate Stephen Curry as he delivered an outstanding performance against Serbia in the semifinals of the Olympic Games. Team USA marched into the finals, where they will face the hosts France. On the other hand, Serbia will face Germany in the bronze medal playoff. Team USA left it too late against Serbia in the semifinals. The reigning champions were trailing by almost 10 points going into the fourth quarter. However, their class and experience showed in the final couple of minutes, as they prevailed in a highly tense encounter. Eventually, Team USA won 95-91, courtesy of a 36-pointer game from Stephen Curry. LeBron James praised his teammate, and stated that he had reserved his best for this fixture. “Kudos to Serbia, but we came through. Chef Curry with a vintage Chef Curry game. Joel was big time for us. And we needed it, we needed it,” James said. Stephen Curry makes it count against Serbia Stephen Curry scored the first 17 of the 20 points scored by Team USA in the semifinals. The reigning champions are the might favorites to claim the gold, given their star-studded lineup. Stephen Curry’s tally of 36 points was the most for any United States player in a knockout match in Basketball. It was a great opportunity for Embiid as well, who stepped up under pressure against Serbia. He scored 19 points, and four rebounds. LeBron James himself had a stellar outing, as he became the first player to record multiple triple-doubles at the Summer Games. USA have been unbeaten in the tournament so far, and will look to add another gold to their tally when they face off against hosts France on Saturday. “I did this against the best of the best on the biggest stage with the biggest pressure” : Noah Lyles after clinching historic gold in Paris

“I did this against the best of the best on the biggest stage with the biggest pressure” : Noah Lyles after clinching historic gold in Paris After the end of one of the most iconic 100 m races in recent Olympics history, reigning world champion Noah Lyles came out on top, and to say by the barest of margins would be an understatement. The current world champion in 100m, 200m, and the 4x100m relay just added an Olympic gold medal to his collection, unanimously earning him the title of the ‘fastest man alive’. The Stade de France arena was in shock after witnessing the race, as no one could figure out who won, because the time difference in between first and last place were in milliseconds. Even the commentators had no idea because of this, and each of them picked a different winner. But the whole stadium erupted after the American flag was displayed on screen. Kishane Thompson could not believe his luck, as the difference between the Jamaican and eternal glory was five-thousandths of a second (yes, you heard that right). For context, the human eye takes between 100 and 150 milliseconds to blink. Noah Lyles finished at 9.784 seconds, while Thompson clocked at 9.789 seconds, getting the silver. “I went up to Kishane and I was like, I’m gonna be honest, I think you had that one, I was fully prepared to see his name pop up, and to see my name pop, I’m like, goodness gracious, I’m incredible,” said the victorious gold medalist. Noah Lyles backs up his talk as he delivers on the biggest stage of all Two months ago, Lyles took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and challenged Jamaican runner Oblique Seville. In a viral photo in which Seville stared Lyles down before beating him, the world champion commented that he will have the final say in Paris. Fair enough, he backed it up and more, as the Jamaican finished at last. For the first time all eight men broke 10-seconds as this was the closest 100m race in Olympics history. It set the internet ablaze, with fans, athletes and even celebrities hyping up the newly crowned champion. Noah Lyles even broke his own previous personal best of 9.83 seconds during the US Olympic trials, but he would hardly care about that. The American runner had a huge smile and a feeling of contempt around him, as he proudly admitted how he kept his cool and handled his nerves in such a knee-shaking circumstance. “When I saw my name [on the scoreboard], I was like, I didn’t do this against a slow field,” Lyles said in a press conference after the race. “I did this against the best of the best on the biggest stage with the biggest pressure.” said the 27-year-old. Safe to say, this victory will be celebrated and talked about for years to come, as Paris has witnessed something very special. Swimming at 2024 Summer Olympics: A look at the overall medal tally as USA manage to pip Australia to continue dominance in the pool

Swimming at 2024 Summer Olympics: A look at the overall medal tally as USA manage to pip Australia to continue dominance in the pool Team USA managed to assert their dominance on the pool at the 2024 Summer Olympics, as they bagged the most number of medals in this discipline. They finished at the top of the medal standings, with eight gold medals, followed by Australia at seven gold medals. This comes despite the fact that Team USA lost out on several gold medals in the pool in Paris, as they managed to accumulate as many as 13 silver medals, and seven bronze medals to take their total tally to 28 medals. Australia managed to win a cumulative of 18 medals, as they took several medals off their rivals USA. France emerged as a surprise in the top three, as Leon Marchand’s four gold medals helped them take their total tally to seven medals. Canada managed to win three gold medals, whereas, China rounded off the top five with two gold medals, and a total of 12 medals. At the Tokyo Olympics, Team USA finished at the to with 11 gold medals, and an overall tally of 30 medals. Australia finished in second once again with nine gold medals, and a cumulative tally of 21 medals. Great Britain among the biggest losers in the pool; Leon Marchand inspires France to four gold medals Great Britain claimed as many as four gold medals in the pool last time around. However, this time they could manage just a single gold medal. This came in the 4*200 m freestyle relay, as they pipped United States and Australia to clinch gold. Leon Marchand set four Olympic records on his way to winning four gold medals, as he lit up the Summer Games in his own backyard. Things have not gone according to plan for Team USA as well, as they lost out on several gold medals this time around. USA also lost out in the 4*100 m freestyle relay, an event which they have dominated since decades. However, the USA Women made no mistake in the same event, claiming the gold medal, and also setting a world record. The United States have finished first in the swimming medal tally since the 1988 Summer Olympics, where they were beaten by East Germany. Other nations have started catching up to USA over the past couple of years, as the powerhouse of swimming is no longer able to win over a dozen gold medals at the Olympics. “I couldn’t believe what I did” : Leon Marchand stunned after creating history at Paris Olympics

“I couldn’t believe what I did” : Leon Marchand stunned after creating history at Paris Olympics As if winning three individual gold medals in a single Olympics was not historic enough, Leon Marchand has only gone and added yet another to his collection. He is now the proud holder of the men’s 400m IM, 200m breaststroke, 200m butterfly and now the 200m IM, making him the first French Olympian to win four gold medals at the same Olympic games. He also gets included into a category of greatness with Michael Phelps and Mark Spitz.  And what better icing on the cake it is than to win it in your home nation. “I don’t know how I did that, but now I need this time to think about what I just did. It was crazy, once again the public was cheering. It was my last individual race [of these Games] so I told myself I had to really enjoy it.” said the 22-year-old. The Toulouse born wonderkid ended his individual campaign by winning the 200m individual medley, where he was 0.06 seconds shy of Ryan Lochte’s record which has been held for over two decades. Also, to put even more context over this astonishing feat, Leon Marchand faced the defending Olympics champions in three out of the four races, and ended each of their reigns in some fashion. “It’s maybe my biggest pride, the ‘me’ from five years ago, with that much pressure, it would have been complicated to manage from the first race. But I came here with a smile and I felt good from the beginning to the end. I managed to handle the pressure without ignoring it,” Marchand said, as quoted by the Paris Olympics. The Paris La Defense Arena naturally exploded, with notable individuals like French President Emmanuel Macron unable to hold his excitement and pride, as the host nation gained another gold medal. Even Leon Marchand’s rivals had nothing but sincere admiration for him, with Great Britain’s Duncan Scott firmly impressed. “I liked that I went head-to-head with [Marchand] for a little bit of the race, that guy is the best in the world in the 200m breaststroke, in the 200m butterfly, in the 400m individual medley and [now] in the 200m [IM]. If I’m behind him, then that’s one person that can beat me,” said Scott after the race. “He was just really happy for me” : Leon Marchand after receiving praise from Michael Phelps Winning numerous accolades and gaining international recognition at such an age can only lead one to be compared to what many consider is the greatest athlete of all time, Michael Phelps. It may as well be of no coincidence that Marchand is coached by Bob Bowman, the legendary American trainer who once helped Phelps develop his talents and innate potential. After his win, the 22-year-old also said that he plans to keep on working with Bowman. “I rank him at the top right now, He’s got the speed, he’s got the endurance. He’s not even reached his potential.” said Bowman about the young Frenchman. Leon Marchand broke two of Michael Phelps’ records in Paris which were held for more than two decades. He also revealed that Phelps was sending him messages and was really pleased by his success. “He was just really happy for me, I saw this video of him commentating [on] my race, just jumping around and screaming. I thought it was really funny and I just really appreciate this guy.” he said. When asked about already being compared to Michael Phelps, the 22-year-old had a humble reply to the question and said it was a huge honor, while praising Phelp’s greatness. “Of course, he is a legend of the swimming world – and he will always be.” were the exact words of the young gem. Although his legendary individual campaign is over, Leon Marchand is expected to swim again in a team relay final, eyeing for another gold medal. “As soon as I landed vault, I was like, ‘Definitely were’ going to do this” : Simone Biles

“As soon as I landed vault, I was like, ‘Definitely were’ going to do this” : Simone Biles Simone Biles and Team USA claimed their fourth ever gold in the Women’s Team in Gymnastics at the Summer Games. Simone Biles led her country as they regained their gold medal. This is some redemption for the American gymnast who had to withdraw midway through the finals of the same event in Tokyo. Simone Biles faced ‘twisties’ at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. To put it into context, twisties is a mental condition when a gymnast feels that they cannot move mid air because of the extreme pressure. The American withdrew from the team event in Tokyo, although they did manage to clinch the silver medal. She also withdrew from a couple of final events, before coming back a week later to win a bronze medal. However, for Simone Biles and Team USA in Paris, it was a flawless performance. Simone Biles stated that as soon as she landed the vault, she was confident of winning the gold medal. She now becomes the most decorated American gymnast of all-time, winning eight medals with more events to follow. “After I finished vault, I was relieved. I was like, ‘Phew!’ because at least no flashbacks or anything. I did feel a lot of relief. As soon as I landed vault, I was like, ‘Definitely were’ going to do this,” she said, as quoted by the Olympic website. Simon Biles inspires Team USA to reclaim gold medal in team event Simon Biles stated that the 2024 Paris Olympics gold medal feels pretty special, given the fact that they were not the clear favorites. She believes that in 2016, they were the favorites to win the gold medal, which they eventually did. The American also stated that in Paris, she is among the more experienced gymnasts, while in Rio, she was relatively a newbie. “I think in 2016, we were destined to win gold, everybody kind of already said we were going to win gold. Now that I’m much older and we have so much more experience, we’re out here really having fun and enjoying what we’re doing,” she said. “It just felt a little bit different [tonight]. It was super exciting, we had fun, we enjoyed each other’s time out there, and we just did our gymnastics,” she added. There are also several individual events where Simone Biles will be competing for medals. She will look to end her Olympic campaign with double digit medals, and extend her supremacy as America’s greatest gymnast. South Korea creates history in Archery; wins 10th consecutive gold medal in Women’s Team Event South Korea have scripted history at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as they have claimed their tenth successive gold medal in the Women’s Team event. Since 1988, the Asian Giants are unbeaten in this event, as they clinched yet another gold medal. However, the journey to the gold medal was as difficult as it could get. The South Korean archers were pushed to the limit by Netherlands in the semifinals, and by China in the finals. They won both the matches in the shoot-off after scores were level after four sets. The South Korean trio of Lim Si-Hyeon, Nam Su-Hyeon and Jeon Hun-young won the final shoot-off against China. They won the first two sets, however, China came back to level the scores to push the match into the decisive shootoff. South Korea women’s team wins 10th consecutive gold medal South Korea have dominated the sport of archery at the Summer Olympics for decades now. Next up, the men will be action tomorrow, as they finished as the top seeds in the qualifying round. As usual, they have received a bye into the quarterfinals. The South Korean trio will be spotted in action once again in a couple of days in the Singles event. It was a brave decision by the South Korean Archery Federation to send three inexperienced archers in the women’s team event. All three archers made their Olympics debut in Paris, and by the looks of things, it surely would not be their last. Huge drama in Judo as Sweden’s Tara Babulfath is controversially disqualified after a take down

Huge drama in Judo as Sweden’s Tara Babulfath is controversially disqualified after a take down The 2024 Paris Olympics are well underway, as several events have started taking place across the city. Among one of the sports to have commenced on the opening day of the Summer Games is Judo. And yes, the first day of this sport involved several controversial calls. Swedish judoka Tara Babulfath was disqualified in the semifinals of her weight category after taking three warnings. However, the manner of the final warning stirred huge drama, as this was right after Tara managed a take down of her Japanese opponent. Tara Babulfath defeated Italian judoka Assunta Scutto in the quarterfinals, who also happened to be the top seed at the 2024 Paris Olympics. A controversial and a questionable call from the referee meant that she could not progress for the gold medal bout. Tara Babulfath bows out in the semifinals after surprising call from the referee Tara Babulfath loosened her grip, and attacked her opponent Tsunoda Natsumi which brought about the takedown. However, the referee felt that there was a pause between the time she loosened her grip, and attacked the opponent which led to her third warning. However, by the looks of things, Tara Babulfath was the more attacking judoka in the semifinals, and as such, the decision from the referee was surprising. The 18-year-old Swede is competing at her first ever Olympics, and won three bouts to reach the semifinals. Tara Babulfath managed to claim the bronze medal, as she defeated Abiba Abuzhakynova in the bronze medal playoff. The Kazakh judoka was injured during the bout, as her knee was heavily tapped. Both judokas collected two warnings each, before Tara Baubulfath clinched the match winning move.
