“Everything is fake” : Rohit Sharma rubbishes talks of meeting with Ajit Agarkar and Rahul Dravid ahead of T20I World Cup
Rohit Sharma has issued a staunch clarification in regards to team India’s selection ahead of the T20I World Cup in June. There were rumors circulating last week that the Indian skipper, alongside the chief selector and the coach met to discuss about India’s probable squad for the event.
According to the news in the media, it was claimed that Hardik Pandya would be only selected in the lineup if he bowls more often in the IPL. As for Virat Kohli, he would open the batting for the side, alongside Rohit Sharma. This would mean that Yashasvi Jaiswal would be dropped from the side following his poor start to the IPL campaign.
However, Rohit Sharma has asked fans not to believe such rumors, and labelled it as ‘totally’ fake news. In his recent podcast with Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan, the Indian captain denied meeting Ajit Agarkar and Rahul Dravid.

Rohit Sharma further explained that Ajit Agarkar is currently on his vacation in Dubai, whereas, Rahul Dravid is enjoying his time off with his family. He stated that the Indian coach was in Mumbai in the previous week, however, he was watching his son play club cricket.
“I haven’t met anyone. Ajit Agarkar is somewhere in Dubai playing golf and Rahul Dravid is actually watching his kids play in Bengaluru,” Rohit told Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist on the Club Prairie Fire podcast.
“He [Dravid] was in Mumbai but he got him [the son] to play on a red-soil wicket at CCI. That’s about it. We haven’t met, to be honest. I think in today’s day and age, unless you hear it from either myself or Rahul himself or Ajit himself or someone from BCCI coming and talking in front of the camera, everything is fake.”
The Indian team for the upcoming World Cup is expected to be announced by the end of the month. There are several question marks over the final squad, with Rishabh Pant regaining his full fitness. Dinesh Karthik has been in sublime form this IPL season, whereas, Rinku Singh has been a consistent performer over the past year.
