“I just want to win every game” : Vincent Kompany expresses his desire of succeeding with Bayern Munich

The newly updated UEFA Champions League draw’s fixtures were recently unveiled, and the German giants will be facing heavyweight competition from FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain among other strong teams. Although they have had massive success against these teams in the past, a new era has started in Munich, with a fairly new coach as well.
Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany has had somewhat of a unique start in his coaching career. After getting relegated with Burnley last season, the Belgian received a substantial offer from Bayern Munich to become their head coach. So far down the season, the young manager has done a decent job with the team and has provided balance in the right areas as well.
Winning the Bundesliga is not the main concern, as the German giants have done it time and again. The Champions League is a different ball game altogether, and Kompany would need to resolve any major issues before the start of the most coveted club competition. But as far as group stage is concerned, the Bavarians have quite a record in them, securing at least 16 points in the past five seasons while also having a perfect record thrice.
Vincent Kompany reveals his thoughts over Bayern Munich’s UCL draw
In a recent press conference, the Belgian was asked about his views over the Bavarians’ UCL fixtures. He revealed that he was looking forward to face a variety of teams, but not to pressurize him on each team’s details separately just yet.
“I’m looking forward to the games and the variety of teams. Don’t ask me about each team separately. I just want to win every game but I don’t yet know how it’ll all feel with the new system,” said the 38-year-old.
Bayern Munich last won the UCL in 2020, where Hansi Flick’s team were far and away the best in the world. Although times have changed now, with a few coaching changes and many star players headed out like Robert Lewandowski, but the Bundesliga heavyweights remain a force to be reckoned with.
Vincent Kompany cannot really complain about his current options, as he possesses a squad mix of experience and youth. Harry Kane, Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise, Manuel Neuer and of course, Thomas Muller will be key players for the Belgian to build the team around this season. After a good start in the Bundesliga, Vincent Kompany’s real test and experience will be displayed in the Champions League, and it will be interesting to see if the 38-year-old can hold the standards created by those before him.
