“Who say that’s last dance?” Rafael Nadal says potential battle with Novak Djokovic won’t be the last

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are on a potential collision course at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The two great rivals could face off in the second round in Paris, if the Spaniard manages to defeat Marton Fucsovics in his first round clash.
Top seed and world number two, Novak Djokovic was asked about his opinion on this potential matchup a couple of days earlier. The Serbian stated that the fans could expect fireworks just like the old times, as he believes this could be their one last dance together.
However, Rafael Nadal has hinted at continuing to compete beyond this year, as he stated that this might not be the last time he faces Novak Djokovic. The veteran combined with Carlos Alcaraz in the Men’s Doubles event on Saturday, as they progressed into the last 16.
“Who say that’s last dance?,” said Nadal. There were also injury concerns for Rafael Nadal heading into the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Spaniard made a last minute decision to compete in the Singles event, as his initial comments suggested that he would only focus on the Doubles event.
“Playing him is like finals, in any tournament” : Novak Djokovic on facing Rafael Nadal

Novak Djokovic stated that he was excited to face Rafael Nadal in the second round of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Serbian believes that facing the Spaniard at ant stage of the tournament was like a final. He is also aware of Rafael Nadal’s exploits in Paris, given that he has won 14 French Open titles.
“If we get to face each other, it’s going to be possibly the last time we’re going to face each other on a big stage. So I’m sure that people would enjoy it. I’m looking forward to it, and I’ll be ready for that matchup,” said Djokovic, as quoted by ESPN.
“Playing him is like finals, in any tournament,” Djokovic said. “Particularly here, knowing what he has achieved and what he’s done for our sport, but particularly here at Roland Garros, his record speaks for itself,” he added.
Novak Djokovic is chasing an elusive gold medal in the Singles event at the Summer Olympics. This is the only accolade which is missing from the Serbian’s long list of achievements. The 24-time Grand Slam Champion started his campaign by defeating Matthew Ebden in straight sets in the first round.
